Top tips for the perfect spritz

Crafting a spritz? It’s easier than you think!

TANICA Brand Ambassador Jenna Hemsworth spills the tea (or should we say spritz?) on turning a good spritz into a great one. Here’s her sparkling advice so you can make a great spritz to taste as delicious as one made in a bar or restaurant:

1) The right ingredients. The hero of the spritz is what you use to make it. The three main ingredients are TANCIA, sparkling wine and soda water. The more premium each ingredient is, the better the spritz. TANICA is less bitter than your European style aperitifs, making it ideal for those warm, sun-soaked afternoons. Pick a Prosecco that’s not too dry or cheap, think of it as the bubbly best friend to your spritz! For the soda water, choose one with loads of small, tight bubbles for that crisp, fizzy pop. Got a soda stream? Crank it to max fizz!

2) A great glass. The right glass makes all the difference! Look for one that’s around 350-460mL capacity. Too large and your drink will get diluted with ice. A stemmed glass keeps your spritz cooler, and the thinner the rim, the more luxe it feels with every sip.

3) Ice, ice baby! Fill your glass to the top with small, clear cubes. If you can’t make your own, grab some party ice, Bare Bones is a good one. Good bottle shops carry bags of party or pure ice. Avoid the petrol station stuff, those big chunky cubes just won’t cut it.

4) Fun garnish. Fresh garnishes, colour and presentation are an essential part of a great spritz experience. People drink with their eyes too, and who doesn’t love a great cheers moment to post on Insta? Garnishes are also important to infuse some additional flavour and add aroma to the spritz. Citrus is the most common, but you can play around with mint, thyme, rosemary, or berries… it’s endless really as long as it’s edible. Dehydrated fruits or mango are great for storing or using for parties.

There you have it, the secret to spritz success! Mix, sip and most importantly, enjoy every bubble moment.

Cheers!
